These are the possible speaking prompts for speaking assessments. Any one of these prompts could be chosen and you are asked to be prepared to reply to any of them :
Chapitre 1
1. Be able to introduce yourself and respond to questions about you
2. Be able to respond to the questions from p12, "Asking for information"
3. Be able to tell me what your favorite activity is when asked. Be able to tell me what you would wear for that activity when asked.
4. Be able to ask for and respond to suggestions as to what to do with a friend. See p18.
Chapitre 2 1) Be able to ask how someone’s trip was and respond - p37 2) Be able to ask how someone is feeling and respond (this includes asking if someone is hungry, tired, thirsty, etc) - p38 3) Be able to give a tour of a house if given a diagram - p40 & 43 4) Be able to complement and respond to complements - p44 5) If given a map, be able to give directions - p49
OR - if you prefer to work in twos, you may come up with a dialog. One student should be welcoming a visitor to their house. The other student will be the visitor. The host will welcome the visitor ask them how their trip was, if they are tired, hungry, or thirsty.
Chapitre 3 - You should always use complete sentences!
1) Be able to interact with the vendors in different food stores. Can you ask for a quantity of something specific to that store? Can you ask for the price? Can you respond to their questions? (Comment dit-on p66) 2) Can you tell me about what you eat for each meal? Can you tell me what a French person eats for that meal? 3) Are you able to have a dinner conversation? Can you ask for food? Respond to someone asking for food? Offer food and drink? Accept food and drink? Compliment or respond to compliment? (Comment dit-on p72) 4) Can you ask for and give advice about gifts. If you were given specific information about a person, could you offer advice on what gift to give?

Chapitre 4 - Remember to always use complete sentences!!!
1) Decrivez votre journee quotidienne. (p110-112)
2) Be able to answer questions about la Martinique. (p100, 102, 105)
3) Tell me what you really like to do at various times of the day, days of the week etc. Use ce qui or ce que, sequencing words and adverbs of frequency. (p110 -113, p113 Ex 31 is a great example of how this could look!)
Chapitre 5 - Remember to always use complete sentences. I will no longer remind you and you will lose points for one word answers.
1) You had a bad day. Give me three complete sentences telling me what happened. 2) What is your best subject? Give me a reason. What is your worst subject? Make an excuse. 3) Comment s'est passe ton week-end? Decrit-le. (tell me about it ) 3 phrases.
Midyear Exam
- Tu téléphones chez ton correspondant pour te décrire pour qu’il/elle puisse te trouver à l’aéroport.. Il/elle n’est pas là, donc tu laisses un message au répondeur. Qu’est-ce que tu dis? (5 phrase s’il te plaît) - Imagine que tu donnes des visites touristiques à Martinique. Explique ce qu’il y a à faire et à voir. - Tu as un nouveau (nouvelle) petit(e) ami(e). Il/Elle est comment? Dis-moi 5 choses qui décrivent cette personne. - Dis-moi 5 choses que tu vas faire ce week-end. - Il y a un nouveau étudiant ici à l’école. Explique-lui ce qu’il y a à faire et voir à Malden. ou à Boston. - Tu as passé une mauvaise journée. Qu’est-ce qui s’est passé? Décrivez 5 choses. - Talk about a bad day you had recently. What happened?
Chapitre 6 - Remember to always use complete sentences. I will not remind you, I will just expect it to happen.
1) Answer questions about a travel advertisement or a timetable. (p171-172)
2) Tell me about something you did this weekend. Where did you go? Who did you go with? How was it?
3) Imagine you went to France last summer. What did you do? Where did you go? What did you see? How did you like it?

1) Décrivez en 5 phrases comment est l’ami(e) idéal(e).
2) Ton ami(e) est de mauvaise humeur. Pourquoi ?
3) Raconte quelque chose qui t’est arrivé. Be sure to set the scene AND tell what happened.
FINAL EXAM
Students will be called to the teacher’s desk in pairs during the last class session to ask / respond to three of the following prompts. (24 points)
1) Tell me about your weekend. Was it good or bad? What did you do?
2) Talk about a bad day you had recently. What happened?
3) Tell me about your weekend. Express your opinion about the activities you participated in. How was it? How did you feel?
4) You have a friend who is always tired and has no energy. What advice would you give your friend?
5) Answer the following question: Qu'est-ce qu'on doit faire pour bien se nourrir?
6) Tell me what you were like and what you used to do when you were a child.
7) Describe a city where you would like to live. 8) Describe a problem you have and ask for advice
